What is Full Circle?
Founded in 1997 by Stanley
Knaub, Full Circle of the Sound Winter Guards are in their 13th year
of existence, providing opportunities in dance and performance for
northwest youth of all ages. Full Circle is committed in its
devotion and adherence to artistic integrity through these mediums
and strives to maintain a modern and holistic approach in
instruction and education. Students are encouraged to participate in
the learning process; ideas and opinions are always given full
weight and value. High importance is placed on development of the
physical and emotional skills required to express themselves as
artists within the winter guard community as well as the grater arts
community. While winter guard is a competitive arena, Full Circle
believes very strongly that success comes in many tangible forms
that are not limited to placement and ranking. Therefore, Full
Circle encourages its students to measure success internally before
placing precedence on external rewards. After a very successful 2005
season, plans are underway for 2006 which include competing at the
Winter Guard International Championships in Dayton, Ohio. Please
visit this site regularly to find out the latest information about
the upcoming season and the Full Circle Family. What is Color Guard?
Color guard is a demanding and artistic sport combining dance, equipment work, gymnastics, theatre and music. A group of performers is trained in not only movement techniques, but in manipulation of flags, rifles and sabres. A 4-6 min choreographed routine set to music is the culmination of the seasons efforts. This routine is used to compete not only in the Northwest, but on a national level as well. Who can join?
Color guard is activity for boys and girls ages 8 and up. Full Circle currently has opportunities for performers from
13 to 22 year of age our A class guard.
Full Circle supports the WGI ruling that prohibits kids attending a high school with a performing color guard to join an independent organization without the written consent of the school and the parents.
How much does it cost?
Full Circle is a not-for-profit organization who
does significant fundraising events to cover most costs. A small yearly contribution
and fundraising participation by each member is required to help pay
for our activities. Dues vary from year to year and are generally in
the range of $700 - $800.
Full Circle is dedicated to providing an
opportunity for kids from families of all income levels. Fundraising, sponsorships, and scholarships are
ways in which Full Circle is committed to catering to all walks of life.
Also, working at our Sounders fundraising events could pay for most
of your dues!

Is there any travel involved?
Rehearsals are held in various locations around
Puget Sound, drawing performers from all over the greater Puget Sound area, from Everett to Auburn. Car pools are encouraged to help make sure location is not an issue.
Although most competitions are held in the northwest in the NWPA circuit, occasionally the guards will travel outside the area to compete in
national competitions in the WGI circuit.
Our guard generally makes a yearly WGI Regional Competition trip to
California, Nevada or Arizona. We compete every year in the world championships
currently held in Dayton, OH.
